Grandpa's Gundam - Gundam Age-1 Full Glansa

I know that the series, Gundam Age has its critics (I'm one of them). But put aside the flawed storyline aside, I can say some of the mobile suits' design is pretty good. One of them is the Gundam Age-1 Full Glansa. Basically it is the Age-1 in Full Armor minus its Age Drive component. Furthermore it is piloted by some old-timer(sorry Flit Asuno) in his sixties. That should count for something.
Anyway building this kit allows me to clear my increasing backlog which by the way is HUGE! Hopefully I will be able take this few months to clear a bit of my backlog which means you will may be seeing more kits from Gundam Age and some more way back like Gundam Maxter from Gundam G, some from the 00 Gundam series, just to name a few.

Completed work for the past few months

Although I have not been blogging since the last few months, but my gunplay building had stopped. This post will include some of the kits which I have done. My kits ranged from series as recent as Age series to the Turn A series. I like getting the kits with disregard to their age.

First is the Age FX Gundam. Although the series leaves much to be desired, but the kit is pretty awesome. This kit provide a stand to house its dragoon bits as to give it a look as if the bits are suspended in mid-air. Personally this kit is one of my favourites in the series.

Work in progress - HG Gundam Age-1 Normal Part 1

I have recently started working on the HG Gundam Age Normal - 1.
With the Gundam Age series recently airing, I was excited in finding out what improvements that Bandai had made to the model kits.

Gundam Age's January Gunpla Lineup

Bandai has recently announce the upcoming lineup for Gundam Age model kits in January. Included is the long awaited Gundam Age-2.
I guess the Gundam Age-2 Normal is the mobile suit belonging to the 2nd main character in the series.

New Gundam Series - Gundam Age

Finally, the new Gundam Series is out. It is named as Gundam Age. Up to now since its unveiling, there had been a lot of negative comments about this series. You can watch the promotional video at the end of this post.

This series is based on a new time series, namely the AG (Advanced Generations). In a nutshell, the series is about a kid who pilots a Gundam (big surprise there...) in order to fight some unknown enemy, the UE, who invades the earth. From what I understand, the pilots of this Gundam Age comprises of main protagonist Frite, his son & his grandson. Yeah, you heard me right. This series will span 3 generations.

From what I seen so far from the posters and the video, it is a clear attempt by Bandai to market this series to a younger market. At the first look of the promotional video, it really leaves a bad taste in my mouth as my first thought that this is for kids. I think a more mature audience would not be able to fully appreciate this series. On a side note, I think the design of the U.E is cool and refreshing. I have not really seen this type of this enemy appearing in any of the previous Gundam series. The overall feel of the video reminds me of the X Gundam series due to the pilot needing an Age Device to operate the Gundam Age as opposed to Garrod needing a G-Controller to operate the Gundam X.

My conclusion is that it is way too early to tell if the Gundam Age is not for the mature masses as it is still only a promotional video. Only time will tell while we await the first episode. Only then, we can really have a feel of the series. For more information, you can read about it here at Gundam Guy who did a great write up about this.

On a side note, Bandai is coming up with the launch of the Gundam Age Gunpla soon which is exciting for me as a Gunpla collector. Look forward to that. XD
