New Hobby Magazine

Currently I am not working on any model kits. being busy with work. I have clear up lots of stuff as I will be flying off to Taiwan this Friday for a much needed 10-day holiday. Quite excited about it as one of my objectives are the Gundam model kits there. The last time I went there was back in 2005 where I brought back 10 model kits. The model kits there are typically much cheaper than here(about 50% lower I think).
Hopefully can get some great bargains or rare kits there.

This week I just bought two items. The first one is the Hobby Magazine Nov issue. It gives quite a lot of inf of the latest kits in there and of course the master pieces of the featured gunpla modelers. Will share with you the interesting stuff once I have the time to read through it.

The second item I bought was a comic name Gundam Legacy Vol 3. This is an interesting series which talks abouth the side stories of Gundam Universe Century. Some of the featured mobile suits are the Full Armor Gundam, RX 78-6, the Zeon ground melee forces & many more.

Work in progress - BB Senshi Sangokuden Bashoko Gundam Part 2 (Final)

AS shown in the last post, the Bashoko gundam is more than half completed. What is left now is parts of its armour and weapons and yes, the feet of course.

Note that after assembly, some parts are still to be done. The next in line is the feet.

Now with the four limbs attached. I will move on to the shoulder armor. As stated earlier, I painted it gold using the oil-based paint marker. I also used the foil sticker provided for the shoulder armor,

Earlier I have already painted part of the helmet in gold and silver respectively using the oil-based paint markers.

Assembled! Looks good actually.

Now left with the weapons. They came mostly in only one colour, so quite a lot of painting involved. Painted the big sword gold and using red and green for the details on it.

Finally the Bashoko Gundam is assembled. I like it because of the sword. For no reason, I like gundams with big swords like Astray Blue Frame 2nd L, Sword Strike Gundam etc.

One more model kit completed. I am trying my best to finish my unbuilt kits as many as possible as I will be going to Taiwan next week. As the model kits in Taipei are much more cheaper than in Singapore, I will definitely bring some home. Therefore I have to clear some space for the new acquistions.

Work in progress - BB Senshi Sangokuden Bashoko Gundam Part 1

The next model I am going to work on is the BB Senshi Sangokuden Bashoko Gundam. Bought this kit together with several other Sangokuden kits on a buying spree as there was a sale. Bought each of them at SGD$5 each when the usual price was about SGD$12.

The original gold colour of kit was terrible. I painted it using my gold oil-based paint marker.

The colour was light grey which I did not like, so I painted it silver with an oil-based paint marker too. Looks much better.

The head was pretty simple. I just used the foil sticker for the eyes. Quite a interesting way to change the two different set of eyes. I panel line the head and face. I proceed to paint the chin using the Red Gundam Marker as I do not want to use the foil sticker. Using masking tape, I kept the ink from overflowing to the other part of the face, thus preventing a messy affair.

The head almost assembled with the Red Gundam Marker I used to paint the chin. 

The arm came next. After assembling, the whole arm is all in blue. The parttern on it was supposed to be in gold. A foil sticker was supposed to pasted on it. But knowing me, I opt to use my trusty gold oil-based paint marker on it. I used black oil-based paint markers for the hands.

 The torso and the waist came next. Pretty straight forward to assemble. Just needed some panel lining and a little painting.

Work in progress - Unicorn Gundam (Unicorn Mode) Part 3 Final

From the last post, The next part is the waist / hip. Pretty straight forward. Time to join the bits and pieces together.

I finally finished it. Hope that I have time to include a picture gallery of it together with Unicorn Gundam Destroy Mode next. Look forward to my next model. (Still decidng which one to work on)

Work in progress - Unicorn Gundam (Unicorn Mode) Part 2

As to continue from the last post, I worked on the head next.

Nice horn

As you can see not much extra work is needed for the head. No panel lining and only one foil sticker is needed. Just to take note that the horn is quite long and prone to break if you are not careful.

As I remembered mentioning that I had regrets in panel lining the torso, so I decided to get rid of the lines using nail polish remover. The reason I use this is because my GF have some left over so I did not want to waste money to buy anything else. But trust me, once I finish this bottle, I will be switching to other means as the smell is horrible.

 Next I worked on the arms. The model comes with three types of hands, clenched fists, outstretched palms and one trigger squeezing hand.

The legs are next to be done. If you have noticed, the legs of the Unicorn gundam is shorter than those of those in the Destroy mode.

I cannot help it but to panel line the legs to give it some depth. It is contrary to my earlier plan not to do any panel lining.
