00 Raiser 1/60 from Gaogao bootleg

As I have mentioned in an earlier post, I am currently working on a bootleg 00 Raiser. It supposedly a bootleg of the Bandai PG model. I bought it mainly for the price as it is less than 1/2 price of the Bandai kit. Another factor was that I wanted to know how far the bootlegs have improved so far.

I visited Kuching, Sarawak, over the weekend and paid a visit to Heng Kim Trading.

They had just moved to their new place at One TJ and I must admit the new premise is much more spacious and have more room for their display of their kits. They had been featured in the news recently for their contribution to the gunpla scene in East Malaysia.

This time, they have quite a number of new stocks and what caught my eye were the bootlegs.

It's back to work for me. This time I started work on the machine nest I bought during one of my trips to Kuching, Sarawak. It looks interesting and will make a good complement to my kits.

Work in progress - TT Hongli's Mech Hero Liu Bei part 3 (Final)

I officialy declare the closure of the Mech hero Liu Bei Project. It has been an enjoyable experience with this kit. No difficulty with the snap fitting usually associated with bootleg kits, material of good quality and fine details. I really like the way the kit can be posed with the swords although I could not achieve the effect of the box art. But anyway it still looks good on display with the array of colours I painted. Only the eyes were used from the foil stickers.

Work in progress - TT Hongli's Mech Hero Liu Bei part 2

It is time to get back with work on the Mech Hero Liu Bei. Just to refresh your memory a bit. From the last post,  most of the kit was completed. What is left are the legs, the backpack and the weapons. So far the kit is up to my to my expectations so far. For a bootleg kit, the quality is magnificent. TT Hongli has really improved a lot since its earlier years. Now to proceed with the next phase of the build.

I have just dropped by Kuching, Sarawak, for the weekend. I decided to pay Heng Kim Workstation's shop over there. You know what happens when one Gunpla fanatic who is in a shopping mood drops in  a hobby shop full of Gunpla. Yeah, madness came over me I splurged on these model kits. This time bootlegs were the main target as the shop were full of them.

First one up is a mecha kit which is based on the Romance of the Three Kingdoms character, Guan Yu. This kit belong to the same mecha series as the Zhao Yun mecha which I did earlier. This kit is actually not mine. I bought it for a friend who commented to me that he wants one that is similar to my Zhao Yun. Since I was came across this, thus I bought it for him.

While browsing the shop, I came across this. This is the first time I am seeing this line up of mode kits which also based on the Romance of the Three Kingdoms. I think the design is similar to the Sangokuden SD series. I bought 2 sets in all. The first one is based on Liu Bei, the ruler of Shu. From the box art itself, it looks downright impressive. But as you know, China based kits some times flatter to deceive especially when it is from TT Hongli. There is also a disclaimer that says actual product may vary from the box art. Anyway I do not mind taking the risk, since the box art alone already stolen my heart.

The second of the TT Hongli kits I got, is the Red Hare of the Three Kingdoms. To complement Liu Bei, I had to get a horse for him. Only this was availabe. As the same with the earlier kit, the box art is impressive

Look, it can transform into a cannon!

The next kit I got is something which the online Gunla community is familar with. This kit has created a buzz online within the gunpla bloggers. It has caused us to look at bootleg gunplas in a different light with its better quality and has even invited opinions that its quality has surpasssed that of Bandai's. Yes everyone, I am officially part of the Hi-v Gundoom owners' club!
After reading so much from fellow bloggers' experience with the kit, I told myself I had to get this kit. Actually this was my main agenda in coming to this shop. Just the box alone is breathtaking. The front and back of the box shows two different box arts. The box itself is as big as a ZZ Gundam MG box.

In addition to model kits, I also spotted something which I was very interested in. It is an display box for model kits. It was made of acrylic and came with lighting. The price was reasonable, thus I bought it.

After thinking about it for a while, I decided on which of my kits to put in the display box. In the end I chose two.  They are the 1/100 No Grade Gundam Astray Gold Frame Amatsu and the MG Hyaku Shiki. The Gold Frame Amtsu, I finished the kit way back last year. As for the MG Hyaku Shiki, I think I completed it about two years back. It was the last MG I did. Yeah, it's been a long time since I touched a MG kit.
