Gunpla Expo Singapore 2011

I have been inactive on my blog for the past month or so. What better time to return than to return with some coverage on the Gunpla Expo Singapore 2011. I was there during the weekend and there was quite a crowd when I reached there.
This year's theme is focused on the Gundam Age series. There were a few Gundam Age's Gaging arcade machines showcasing the AG series of Gundam Age's model kits. As I took loads of pictures, I will be dividing the coverage into several parts as there are too much photos to put in one post. So on to the pics.

Gundam Age Episode 1 Review

Finally the much talked about Gundam Age anime has officially started. I managed to catch the first episode. The plot pace is pretty fast with the enemy attacking the main character's colony within the first 10 min of the show.
The enemy which is the mobile sut, Gafran, looks pretty decent. They exudes a mysterious feeling casting questions where they are from and why they are destroying cities. The grunt unit, Genoace, made its appearance although it seems like cannon fodder to the Gafran. When Flit in the Gundam Age uses the Genoace's beam rifle on the Gafran, it hardly makes a scratch. Thus this says much about the firepower of the Genoace.
Then it is a show of Gundam Age's power as Flit uses the beam saber on the Gafran and it does prove effective. So far I can say I was pretty satisfied with the flow of the story so far. It is still too early to tell as it is only the first episode. We have to wait for the next episode to find out if the series is as good as their creators deem it to be ...XD

Gundam Expo SIngapore 2011

The annual Gundam Expo Singapore is back! I was looking forward to it since I have been attending for the past two years. I still do not have much details about. The most important thing is that it will be held at Compass Point from 15 - 27 Nov 2011. Still no news about the collectibles to be sold there. All I know is that there will be a display of customized Bearguys held. So hurry and send in your entries if you are interested in having a chance in displaying your customized Bearguy.

October Loot!

I have not been blogging as much as I like as my schedule was pretty packed these few weeks. My poor SD Zhao Yun has been neglected during this period. I will continue on his horse soon. I was away in Kuching, Sarawak, for a while during these period.

Of course I paid a visit to Heng Kim Trading and I sure did not go home empty-handed. In all I got three kits.

Decided to give TT Hongli's Kshatriya a go

Work in progress BB Senshi Sangokuden SD Zhao Yun Gundam - Part 2

In the last post, I completed the basic form of the SD Zhao Yun. Next up is his armor. Assembling the armor is an exciting process for me as it is the time where the kit will take shape in its full splendour.

Work in progress BB Senshi Sangokuden SD Zhao Yun Gundam - Part 1

After some time of inactivity, it is time for some gunpla building again. This time the SD Sangokuden character is based on one of the five Tiger Generals for the Shu kingdom, Zhao Yun. Personally he is my favourite character from the Romance of the Three Kingdoms. For this kit itself, he even comes with his own horse.

September Loot!

It is time to give in to my lust of gunpla again. Despite efforts and promises to myself to control my spending, I guess I gave in to my instincts again. Who knows that an innocent stroll around the local Toys'R'Us store can uncover a sale of Gunpla kits.
The story was that I was walking about in the Toys'R'Us store at Tampines mall and came across Senjin Gasshin Shu Gundam selling at a discount of 50%. They are also selling the bundle of Shin Sousou Gundam, Shin Shibai Sazabi & Shin Kakuka Virsago at 40% off. Of course I could not let this deal slip out of my hands. Thus I have extended a welcome to the 8 new kits  (technically speaking Senjin Gasshin Shu Gundam consists of 5 kits) to my Sangokuden family.

Hmmm... My Backlog as of current

Currently I am now moving my stuff to my sis's room for the moment as my room is due for painting. Of course my Gunpla needs to be moved also. Below are some pics of them during the move.

BB Senshi Sangokuden SD Blue Destiny Bacho Gallery

I was feeling a bit lazy after completing the Mobile Sumo recently. Did not feel like starting on a new build, but yet I felt funny not working on gunpla in my free time. Decided to go through some of my recently built gunpla to see if any of them needs refurbishing.
I took out my Bacho Blue Destiny to work on. Its weapons was not painted yet, thus giving it a plain white look. I did some quick work on it and the results speak for themselves.

Work in progress Mobile Sumo 1/144 Part 3 - Final (Gallery)

So far, I have completed the Mobile Sumo from the Turn A Gundam series. This post is essentially the last post of it. This will be a photo gallery post which will include the weapons. I have really enjoyed building it. As it is an old kit, it was quite simple and straightforward in terms of the number of parts. The thing that took up the most of my time is the painting process.

Work in progress Mobile Sumo 1/144 - Part 2

As continued from the last post, I spray painted the runner chrome silver and left it overnight to dry. After that, it is safe to work on the build. I was pretty excited as this would be my first build from the Turn A series. I have watched the series and it was an enjoyable experience. Further more this kit is shiny which adds to my delight.

Work in progress 1/144 Mobile Sumo - Part 1

Although I have mentioned recently that I will be focusing on my SD kits from the Sangokuden series, I cannot help myself when I was looking through my backlogs and found this, the Mobile Sumo from the Turn A Gundam series. It is a no grade 1/144 scale kit. I have bought this on Ebay a couple of years back. This will be my first kit from the series.

Work in progress BB Senshi Sangokuden SD Kyoui Gundam F91 - Part 2

As continued from the earlier post, I continued working on the SD Kyoui Gundam F91. The basic form was completed earlier. So next up are the armor and the weapons. The first step is assembling the helmet which the parts have been painted earlier.

Work in progress BB Senshi Sangokuden SD Kyoui Gundam F91 - Part 1

I got some free time over the weekend, thus is back to work on my backlog. As mentioned earlier, the focus is on the Sangokuden SD kits. This time I chose the SD Kyoui Gundam F91 to work on. It is quite an interesting kit as it is a Gundam but yet he can disguise as a Zaku II too.

Work in progress BB Senshi Sangokuden SD Kakouenn Daras - Part 2

Work in progress BB Senshi Sangokuden SD Kakouenn Daras - Part 1

My last kit was working on the SD Kakouton Giros.  During that WIP, I mentioned that I was going to work on his brother, SD Kakouenn Daras next. My next project is where I deliver my promise. If you have notice from the box art, Kakouenn Daras is quite similar to Kakouton Giros in terms of design.

Gundam DVD - The 8th MS Team

Still talking about Gundam anime in this post. Another Gundam DVD I have in my possession is the Mobile Suit Gundam: The 8th MS Team. I like this anime becaue it is about a group of soldiers fighting jungle warfare on the ground. Although this team possess Gundam units, they are not all-powerful. They struggle fighting the enemy to end the war. This anime has 12 episodes and I also have another DVD, Miller's report, which is essentially a movie compilation of all the episodes.

Gundam Anime on DVD

As I am a Gundam fan, I do collect other things related to Gundam other than Gunpla. One such thing is the anime. I enjoy watching the Gundam anime. The series actually has quite a history. The first gundam series, Mobile Suit Gundam actually started in 1979. I collect the DVDs and watch them. Actually knowing the anime and the story line gives you much more satisfaction and more attachment when building the Gunpla. Below are three DVDs which I got hold of recently.

August Loot!

I have just returned from a trip to Kuching, Sarawak. I was there over the long weekend. While there I paid a visit to Heng Kim Trading located at BDC Everise.  Of course I will not go home empty handed while I was there. Got some kits, both Bandai & bootlegs.

Work in progress - BB Senshi Sangokuden SD Kakouton Giros Part 2

As to continue from the last post, I was working on the Kakouton Giros from the Sangokuden series. Most of the parts were assembled and this post will mainly focus on assembling this parts together and of course, his sword.

Work in progress - BB Senshi Sangokuden SD Kakouton Giros Part 1

For the next project I am working on is the BB Senshi Sangokuden SD Kakouton Giros. Most probably I will focus on the Sangokuden series for some time as I have to clear my backlog fast. And the fastest kits to clear are the Sangokuden series kits. Now on with the introduction work.

According to the three kingdoms story, he is one bad ass tough guy. It is said that when his eye was struck by an arrow, he pulled the injured eyeball out and ate it himself. Brrr.... that is one gross guy. Anyway we proceed with the deboxing.

Bling Bling! Double header - MG Hyaku Shiki & Gundam Astray Goldframe Amatsu

This particular post is to showcase two of my earlier kits. This two has been completed a a couple of years back when I was just learning about gunpla. Straight build with no painting. Even some of the nib marks are still present. I will try to do some clean up on them once I got time. For now I just want to do a shoot with them as I have just digged them out of storage.
The reason why I want them both together for this shoot is that they both possess a similar trait. They both have gold chrome plated parts, bling bling! I really have a soft spot for these shiny parts. I also have a Shining Gundam Hyper Mode somewhere in storage but that is for another story.

Work in progress BB Senshi Sangokuden SD Shin Totaku Zaku Part 2 (Final)

As promised from the earlier post, I am now posting a photo gallery of the BB Senshi Sangokuden SD Shin Totaku Zaku as a conclusion to the build. This build is actually quite simple and straightforward. The kit itself actually has a dark feel to it, being of course one of the biggest baddies in the series.

Work in progress - Dark Keroro Part 1

After negecting Keroro model kits for some time, it is time to shift my attention and focus back to them. I find the series hilarious and the model kits are very cute. I currently have less than 10 of these model kits and it is time to do something about it.

Kururu: Keroro, it's time for you to get a new assistant.
Keroro: Eh?? You got someone in mind?

Kururu: This guy looks promising... kekeke...
 Keroro: Whoa~.... ...

Work in progress BB Senshi Sangokuden SD Shin Totaku Zaku Part 1

After some time out of touch with the Sangokuden series, it is time for me to be back to work with them. Who else to work on than the biggest baddie (literally) of all, the Shin Totaku Zaku. He is based on the Zaku I and the reason I bought him is because he comes with the Dragon Seal. That is a nice accessory to have, not to mention the clear effect parts.

Gundam 00 - Awakening of the Trailblazer Gashapon

After some work on Gunpla, its time for a change of mood. I am  going to touch on Gashapons next. I bought this Gundam 00 gashapon set from Taiwan last year. I am actually a muddle-head. If you remember a recent post, I bought Gashapon Graham only to realise I already got the whole set.

Work in progress - TT Hongli's Mech Hero Liu Bei part 3 (Final)

I officialy declare the closure of the Mech hero Liu Bei Project. It has been an enjoyable experience with this kit. No difficulty with the snap fitting usually associated with bootleg kits, material of good quality and fine details. I really like the way the kit can be posed with the swords although I could not achieve the effect of the box art. But anyway it still looks good on display with the array of colours I painted. Only the eyes were used from the foil stickers.

Work in progress - TT Hongli's Mech Hero Liu Bei part 2

It is time to get back with work on the Mech Hero Liu Bei. Just to refresh your memory a bit. From the last post,  most of the kit was completed. What is left are the legs, the backpack and the weapons. So far the kit is up to my to my expectations so far. For a bootleg kit, the quality is magnificent. TT Hongli has really improved a lot since its earlier years. Now to proceed with the next phase of the build.

Work in progress - TT Hongli's Mech Hero Liu Bei part 1

After working on the MG Crossbone Gundam X1, I wanted a change of mood. From my last trip to Kuching, I bought some bootlegs back. One of them is the TT Hongli Mech Hero Liu Bei. At first I thought it was one of the bootleg SD Sangokuden kits, but at a closer look, it is different from them although it is still based on the three kingdoms character.
The main reason which I got this kit is the box art. I know the bootleg's reputation and the box art may not be an actual representation of the kit itself, but I was willing to take the risk. The box art was simply too beautiful to ignore.
On another point on why I chose to build this kit now is because I am off to Kuching again in early August. Thus if the kit is up to expectations, I may get the other kits in the series although I already possess the Red Hare. Now to procceed with build.

Gundam fair at Toys 'R' Us

Currently there is a Gundam fair at Toys 'R' Us from now till 15 Aug 2011. There are discounts on gunpla up to 70%. There are also limited edition items on sale too. I went there over the weekend and bought three kits. Some of the limited items includes the HG Sazabi GPB colours from the Gunpla Builders series and MG Destiny Gundam Heine Custom.

Feel free to drop by especially if you are aimimg for the limited edition products.

Work in progress - MG Crossbone Gundam X1 Ver.Ka. Part 8

The time has come to draw a conclusion to the Crossbone Gundam X1 build. I admit that it is actually not fully completed due to the application of decals, but I am not really in the mood for it currently. In order not to delay the next project, thus I have to quicky wrap this up.
With regards to the X1, the detailing is superb, with the cockpit and pilot thown in. It was a joy to build this kit being my first Ver.Ka. kit. The accessories are great too, all were depicted in the manga series, with some of the weapons exclusive only to the Crossbone Gundam, thus establishing its own unique identity.

Work in progress - MG Crossbone Gundam X1 Ver.Ka. Part 7

Due to a busy work schedule, I have not been able to work much on the X1 recently. As seen from the last post, most of the X1 has been completed with exception to the weapons. Therefore this post will be mainly on the weapons itself. The most interesting item that the X1 possess is the anti-beam cloak. More on that later.

Assembling the beam rifle

it needs some painting

After the paint job

Assembling the pirate sword handle

Adding some black paint to it

The pirate beam sword is my favourite weapon for the X1 as the design is exclusive to the Gundams in the Crossbone series as compared to your run-of-the-mill beam sabers

Both the weapons

The twin daggers

X1 with the daggers

Freeze! Hands up, punk!

Looks like some bloke from a pirate movie...

One of the interesting items that the Crossbone Gundams in the Crossbone series possess is the anti-beam cloak. They help to repel beam attacks keeping the Gundam safe. They are lightweight and less costly to replace as opposed to the anti beam shields. The downside of them is that they only can withstand a few hits before being destroyed.

With the cloak on

Obviously the next phase of the build is on the applying of the decals. Just looking at the amount of the decals alone really gives me a headache. Will put it off for a while until I have the mood for it. XP

the decals

Anyway, the shopping bug hit me again when I walked into a Gundam fair in Toys'R'Us at Vivocity during the weekend. They were clearing their gunpla giving discounts at up to 70% off. How can I let go of this chance, I ask myself. What is more, there were also limited edition of Gunpla on sale. At the end I got myself 3 kits in all.

The loot at the end of the day

Tensyoryu Komei v Gundam at SGD$15

Asurao Mokaku Gundam, Syukuyu Gundam, Kyoshin Elephant Set at SGD$20

Gunpla Builders Sazabi GPB colour Limited edition at SGD$59.95
For the Sangokuden Gunpla, I have been eyeing them for quite sometime, so with the sale on, I quickly grabbed hold of the chance to add them to my collection. For the Sazabi GPB Colour, I have been an avid collector of the Gunpla Builder series, so I also cannot miss the chance to add it to my collection.
I guess my gunpla addiction serves me well this time XD
